Finding the tread depth Indicator

You don’t have to be an expert to know when your tyres need changing; you just need to know where to locate the tread depth indicator. There are usually indicators in the grooves of a tyre, and it’s basically a small square positioned deeper than the groves, then over time, when the groves are at the same level (depth) as the indicator, you’ll know that they desperately need changing.

Depending on the tyre, the indicator can be hard to find, and in the event that you’re unable to see the indicator, make sure you get them checked by a qualified tyre technician. A tread depth gauge can also help you determine the wear too, and these can be easily attached to your car keys. It’s just a small device that measures the amount of grip left on your tyres and you can find them at pretty much any garage or car part retailer.
